The objective of this training course is to get an overview on the key enabling technologies behind the Industrial Digitalization. The Industrial Digitalization aims to foster the interconnection and automation of the engineering and production processes in the context of manufacturing, by means of customizing Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). This training course will address three main pillars: a) Industrial Computing, b) Agile Engineering, and c) Industrie 4.0 / Factories of the Future.
Industrial Computing refers to leveraging High Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructures and cloud platforms, in order to facilitate the accessibility and affordability of high-end software solutions (e.g. Computer Aided Technologies – CAx). This module will address: Cloud Computing, Cloud-based CAx, and Engineering Apps.
Agile Engineering deals with new concepts and techniques for the product development process. These concepts and techniques are focused on streamlining the product development process, by means of integrating design and analysis with more context-aware information (e.g. semantics). This module will go through: Dynamic Shapes, Interactive Simulation, and Smart Artifacts.
Industrie 4.0 / Factories of the Future are research initiatives, fostering the cyber automation of the shop floor. This initiatives have the objective of enabling on-demand manufacturing, where customers, logistics, engineering, and production are interconnected. This module will look at: Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) / Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), Big Factory Data, and Predictive Manufacturing.
